Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC)

Epi
     The most common thyroid malignancy.
Sx
     Characterized by slow, infiltrative local spread affecting other parts of the thyroid gland and regional lymph nodes.
Histo
     Local lymph node involvement
     Psammoma bodies are characteristic
     Hurthle cells seen in both
          Papillary thyroid cancer
          Follicular thyroid cancer
Dx
     FNAB typically reveals 
          Large cells with ground glass cytoplasm
          Pale nuclei with inclusion bodies and central grooving
          PTC is unencapsulated (in contast to follicular thyroid cancer, which encapsulated)
Prognosis
     Excellent, even in the presence of metastasis
