Ideal patient for thrombectomy:

• Small core infarct
• Large penumbra

 

Such as cases with:

• Core infarct volume less than 70 mL
• Mismatch volume of 15 mL or greater
• Mismatch ratio of 1.8 or greater

 

Other considerations for determining whether a patient is an endovascular intervention candidate:

• If MCA stroke, assess ASPECTS score
• CT perfusion study can determine salvagable volume
