Severe aortic stenosis diagnostic criteria
- Required
- Aortic jet velocity >=4.0 m/s
- Mean transvalvular pressure gradient >=40 mmHg
- Optional
- Valve area usually <=1.0cm^2
Indications for valve replacement
- Severe aortic stenosis plus at least one of the following:
- Onset of new symptom such as
- angina
- syncope
- exertional dyspnea
- LVEF <50%
- Undergoing other cardiac surgery (e.g. CABG)
